Halloween Is the Time for an Excess of Limbs

moved this guy ahead a few days so he could show up on halloween! the original photo had only four stuffed spider legs so i gave him eight thinking i was improving the image. i just now realize that the baby's actual arms and legs are supposed to represent spider legs as well. crap, now its a 12-legged spider. kind of reminds me of the spider drawing as payment.

The Rodent's Bigger Than the Canine

sorry i missed posting. two four-legged creatures today to make up for it.

he's scared of the giant mutant rat.

capybaras are actually rats that rolled in some of that ninja turtles ooze.

Texture Twice Removed

i used a brush to simulate a brush stroke simulated by computer illustration program.

A Chic Buckled Hat

i felt a lot of pressure painting this one because fashion is always changing. the outfit i put on her now probably won't be fashionable in the future when everyone is wearing floating rings like the Jetsons. it will be like if someone right now was in pilgrim garb standing on giant letters spelling FASHION.

Self Expression? Communication? Beauty? Nope. Art Is for Taunting

this was requested by a man as a gift for his wife. she's russian and teaches english as a second language. she always thought "dinosaurs" was the singular form and "dinosaurses" was the plural. i've created an artwork for the sole purpose of mocking an individual.

Also Could Be a Benefit for Awareness and Preservation of Mustaches

this is another painting that's being donated to an auction to benefit a humane society in Montana. the event is called Wine & Whiskers. sounds like they're going to get their pets drunk.

This Bunny's Raising Monies

this little guy is being donated to an auction to benefit a humane society in Montana. next will be a predator to follow the prey.

I Also Wouldn't Mind Changing it to Bucephalus

this is Alexander the Great and his horse, Bucephalus. what does one have to do to have "the Great" as a part of one's name? tame a wild horse? i'm guessing it's just a form you have to fill out for the government. i should look into it. Ali the Great? Ali the Spectacular?? too bad Boston Rockefeller is taken.

On the Road to Terrible

this is part one of a one part series where i paint things that will happily take you to someplace miserable. subjects i skipped in this series are: that guy you met on MySpace, Air Antarctica, an all you can eat buffet, your 21st birthday party, rare ground beef, a recalled Toyota, a major in accounting, heroin.

Love or Lunch?

a woman sent me a picture of her betta and her cat and asked me to paint them together. i tried to make it ambiguous as to if they're friends or not. maybe it's like Edward and Bella. the cat doesn't want to eat the fish. but the cat totally wants to eat the fish.

His Day Is Made for All Eternity

this painting is based on a pin [pictured below] that a guy made. he said, "it is, i think, the best thing i have ever made. and then i gave it to a friend because i love her, but now i'm bummed that i no longer have it." haha i thought that was adorable. also, when i sent him a picture of his finished painting and asked for his address to mail it he said this: "OH MY GOD I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS AND YOU MADE MY DAY FOREVER." also adorable.

A Man with a Beer and a Dog with a Dog

jeez, i didn't even realize i forgot to post yesterday until right now.

i've had enough of these regular yorkies. what about new yorkies? when are those coming out?

Pornguins

this is probably the sexiest of all my free paintings so far. that says something about my usual subject matter.

At Least 10/11/10 Is Still Binary

aww i forgot to post on 10/10/10. and i should have published it at 10:10:10 AM. but i don't know what that date and time has to do with a tug boat so i guess it's ok he didn't show up until today.

it looks like he's dancing. or trying not to fall into a pool. or jumping out of the way of a stink bug cause...eeeeew! or i guess avoiding a tackle since he's a football mascot. but generally not a very horse-ish pose.

this boat is the final one in my water series for the Colorado Foundation for Water. so based on my reporting, water is used for drinking, holding up boats and a home for fish. i think that about covers it.

The CFWE Hates Bubbles

this is supposed to be a commissioned painting about water but i painted some air in the image, too. i hope the Colorado Foundation for Water Education doesn't mind.

This Pop Has Water in It

this is the first of a series of three commissions for a nonprofit called the Colorado Foundation for Water Education. more exciting water uses to come!

Actually, This Isn't Character Design. It's a Portrait of a Real Monster

this is the bonus painting i created for the winner of my "contest". he said he just wanted a monster. i like it when i get to do character design. i should just start sending monsters to everyone. oh you want me to paint you a beagle? monster. can i turn this photo of your toddler into art? monster. your girlfriend would really love a peace sign? monster.

Possibly Charlton Heston's Dog

this painting is going to the winner of the "contest" about matching my made up cityscape. this same guy gets to request tomorrow's painting, too. more than one painting for one person is quite a rarity! but he deserves it for his efforts. or his dog deserves one for learning to do this.

Just a Big Grey Circle

i made the dots pretty large on this one. in every good there is a crap ton of evil and in ever evil there's loads of good. i should have made the dots so big they pretty much took up the whole side and bled into each other. a yin yang that communicates there is no such thing as good and evil.

Nessy Would Look Good in Pink

i got this request for a plesiosaurus swimming in a black sea with a blue sky with stars. after i finished it i thought it looked a lot like nessy. well it turns out i wasn't too far off because the loch ness monster is suspected to be a plesiosaur which is related to this gal.

God's A Hilarious Character Designer

this portrait was requested by this boy's father. he specifically wanted a head shot with no shoulders. if i had my choice of who to paint for a floating head portrait i would have picked this little guy anyway. he's already a living cartoon. his adorable, goofy little head is just asking to be painted.

Also It Grows In Spikes

did you know that a strip of hair from the top of your forehead to the back of your neck continues to grow after you die?

But Not Matching Your Socks Is Stupid and Easy

a part of the request was that the skier have two different colored poles. they're different shades of blue. almost as cool as not matching your shoes.
