i actually CHOSE to do this pet portrait. the requester gave me other options to paint that were more open and not a pop art tribute to an aphonic best friend based on a photo. but i wanted to paint this cat because of it's insane expression and pose. look at his eyes in the photograph. he looks like his mind is running like crazy and he's about to crack. though i did make him more pleasant looking in the painting.

That is totally true about his expression! We love the painting so much. I have to say, though, we did wonder what happened to the crazy eyes. It's for the best, though, to have a painting that doesn't make our cat look totally unhinged. The weird part is that he was lying like that for about an hour with his arms above his head.
