Penguins Like Beer. That's Why I Forgot to Post Yesterday
in the art world, rigid glass bottles can bend. and alcoholic beverages are generic.
i'd call this a medium five.

Complementary Pokeball
this was a request for a pokeball in "non-traditional colors". i went with the exact opposite of the traditional colors. i even painted the black outline as white and the white stroke as black. that way, if you stare at one spot on the painting for a long time and then look at a white wall, you'll see a pokeball in traditional red and white as an afterimage. the outlines will be black, the stroke will be white and the background will be blue.

This Music May Give You Cancer
i just released two new ringtones for free. they're based on the same cell phone interference sound as Radiation by Spagnola. you can hear them here or get them directly to your phone by texting SPAGNOLA to 69937 (MYXER).

I Ended Up Using Cringer
this one was hard because i had to find a GIANT tiger with a paw that was almost one foot wide. then i had him step in paint and then step on the canvas.

Yinz Guys Like My Painting
this isn't the first time i've lovingly rendered Pittsburgh. i didn't have to pay to ship this one because the requester and i live in the same fair city. she came and picked it up.

I Don't Even Know How He Got in Touch With Me Because I'm Such a Big Deal
this is a portrait requested by a fellow that writes for the newspaper in my hometown. he used it in his column. now that i'm super famous and awesome and successful and awesome, everyone back where i used to live is thrilled that the celebrity Ali Spagnola is from their town.

Multiple Man
i just painted a two panel commission of the Multiple Man from Marvel Comics. i'm not exactly sure what he's doing but i have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that his superhero power is duplicating himself.

Mine Doesn't Have a Thumb Hole
although it's romantic to think artists use these palates, it's not always realistic. this is what my palate looks like:
its half of a plastic take out container i got from my college cafeteria over two years ago. it's hard to capture in a photo but those mounds of dried paint are around three inches high. and it's surprisingly heavy due to that fact.

Maybe I Should Watch It Considering I Created Art About It
this is Dante and Randal from "Clerks" written and directed by Kevin Smith. i've never seen the live action movie but i've actually watched the animated show that spun off from the film. that's kind of silly because the movie was really well known and the cartoon was pulled after two episodes.

I Know of Another Figure That's Rarely Seen Looking Pleasant
it makes sense he's usually represented as a smiling deity because nothing about his religious story involves nails.

It's Going to Catch On

Even Though Brown Is All the Colors, I Use Brown Less Than All the Colors
i decided to give these guys a sepia treatment. my brown tube of paint was excited cause it's the most neglected of all my colors. i still have the same tube i bought in high school.

Radiation by Spagnola on The Nexus One Phone
today, Google released its newest phone, the Nexus One. it comes with 13 preloaded songs in its music player. Radiation from my album, Free of Style, is one of them! the Nexus One also allows you to set "Radiation by Spagnola" as your ringtone. which you should. cause it's awesome. also because it's appropriate...the song's beat is created with the sound you hear when a cell phone call is interfering with speakers.
if you don't happen to have one of the coolest phones on the planet yet, you can get the ringtone here. or download the song here:

Conversation Hearts are the Only Type of Conversation Allowed in the LH Libaries
the requester didn't care to be accurate about what conversation hearts actually say. i don't know what LHL means to him. i'm guessing it's not Linda Hall Library, LHL Construction, Inc., Lister Hill Library or Lawrence H. Landweber as google told me it means. funny that two libraries use LHL. i wonder if they're rivals. their librarians meet every third sunday of the month to have shush offs and dewey decimal challenges.

Two Chubby Things
i've forgotten to post every other day this entire year!
this image is titled "bass2.jpg". "bass.jpg" is a bass guitar hee hee.
the first venus of willendorf i painted was for a gallery show. i thought it wouldn't even get taken off the wall let alone requested again. cool. i'd love to have the original sculpture.

One of These Paintings Has Time Traveled Here from Last Year
happy new year! i forgot to post yesterday so the new year's eve and new year's day paintings get to hang out together. that is actually perfect because they were commissioned together! what i usually would have considered to be a mistake ended up being advantageous. i think that's a good sign for the new year.
beverage. mostly blue with a touch of yellow.
breakfast. mostly yellow with a touch of blue.
