Close Up Polar Bear Portrait
the request was for a polar bear but i decided to make him a little different than my usual. good thing he wasn't blinking when i captured him or it would just be a black triangle with an upside down T.

A Challenging Subject That Was Easy to Paint
this is tofu. this is also the first time i've felt i needed to explain what i was trying to represent. not only does tofu taste like nothing, it looks like nothing when you paint it. even with a bite missing. so i gave it a face. but yeah this is tofu.

Another Double Detention Song
the team making our double detention game wanted a second song to use during gameplay. i wrote another track to fit with the previous ones.

Cement Tower Music
i gave my three previous tracks to the team building the cement tower game and they asked me to try a different style. they wanted something relaxed but more "puzzle-y" like the player is thinking about something. i made them five more tracks and they're happy with them.

Paging Dr. Nostalgia
a pager??? who wants a painting of that? well obviously at least one person. it's just that i had so much trouble giving away my cell phone painting and people still use cell phones. i guess this is the cassette tape of the communication world so it's cool and retro.

From the Net to the Baseline Filled With Art...One of Which Is a Peace Sign
this is painting number 900. that's enough square feet to exactly cover a volleyball court.
i painted the first peace sign a long time ago. why am i still painting them? i would have thought the world would have achieved it by now and there'd be no need for artwork to advertize it.

Mackinac Bridge
this is the bridge at the top of michigan connecting the upper peninsula to the lower peninsula. i like how the word mackinac sounds. it's like it rhymes with itself.

Infinity Heart
the requester of this painting lost a close friend and a bunch of their mutual friends got infinity tattoos to remember him. she requested this painting as a memorial.

Japanese Red-Crowned Crane
i missed posting yesterday but i can actually say it's not my fault. i did remember but my internet wasn't working cause my roomate screwed up the automatic bill payment and they shut it off. though that story sounds TOO typical to be true.
"crane on a rock" is a karate kata (a choreographed series of movements) known as Gankaku. wikipedia says it's very advanced. i don't know the criteria for naming karate moves but it certainly isn't intimidation because this guy doesn't look very tough.
this is for an architecture student that asked me to paint my interpretation of architectural design. i figured he has a set of these laying on his desk cause they're used for manual drafting. actually, he probably uses computer aided design and may never have seen one of these. but doing a painting of software isn't very cool.

Third Grade Taught Me at Least One Thing
this was the third generic request for a butterfly. i decided to go with not so generic and make it a specific species. monarch would be the only butterfly species i know.

Who Needs a Torch When You Have Building
an american student living in london requested something combining big ben and the statue of liberty. he looks more like little ben here.

Mighty Morphin' Painting
i thought to myself "what color would the red power ranger like the most?" to decide what the background color of this painting should be. then i threw that idea out because blue is a better contrast.

Puzzle Game Music
i wrote some more music for work this week. my company's making a puzzle game called cement tower so i had to make some relaxed background tracks. there are going to be five levels total which means five songs. here are the three i have finished.

This Food Is Staring Back at Me
in an attempt to make it cuter, i personified the apple and gave it a face. great. is there any diet more strict than vegan? now i dont want to eat anything that was ever alive.
Burton Morris Take Two
darn it. i forgot to post. here's yesterday's and i'll post today's once it's dry and photographed.
this was a request for a repeat of my first Burton Morris cup of coffee tribute. he's done these with a bunch of different background colors so i used blue this time instead of red. i hope mr. morris doesn't mind that when you google "burton morris coffee", my painting comes up fourth surrounded by all his work.

Maneki Neko
i think i painted the characters on the coin correctly. it's supposed to say ten million ryō. i just hope i'm not going to get emails from Japanese speakers exclaiming "my mother was a saint!".

Being in Shape Is for Things Trying to Continue Their Species + A Monkey in a Box
sorry, forgot to post friday. that means i didn't get paid to write about my unicorn cause i'm doing it now off of work hours.
this was the third generic monkey request. i changed it up a little and made him aware of his containing canvas. it reminds me of an intaglio print i did a while ago.
clearly the last unicorn was super fat cause it's not like it had to impress anything in attempt to procreate.

Ears Down, Ears Up
i focused on showing how their features are different but making sure one wasn't cuter than the other.
Power Hour on Digital City
Digital City wrote an article about my power hour. also, they just interviewed me for a follow up. it should be published soon and i'll be posting that once it's up.

Garfield Is Too Cool for High Fives
the requester wanted a lizard giving a high five to a "garfield-like" cat. so i didn't copy garfield exactly but his disenchantment came through.

Precise Painting
this request was for a penguin holding a laser gun at a 60 degree angle. in relation to what? i have no idea. which means he is holding it at a PRECISELY 60 degree angle because the starting point is wherever it needs to be.
