A6M Zero
this is a japanese fighter plane known as the A6M Zero. the allies gave it the nickname "Zeke". the guy that requested this is giving it to his nephew named Zeke.

UNC Mascot
another mascot. my style lends itself well to logos like this because of the solid black lines and white stroke outline.

Girly Mess
this should have been on my trapper keeper in 4th grade. actually, i wouldn't mind having it on a trapper keeper right now. i'd use it at work. i bet that would get me some respect.
also, i'd like to note that even though i titled this post a "girly mess", the unicorn is a boy. and the painting is going to someone named Jessie so it could be either gender...but still a mess :)

Pianist Dog
I was asked specifically for a golden retriever playing the piano with a black background and an "xo" in the corner. the requester didn't give a reason for any of those things. maybe the xo is a kiss and a hug.

Scarecrow
he's supposed to be creepy looking. i guess he kind of has dead eyes and his body positioning is less than settling but overall he's still cute.

Roboscottie, House on the Beach and An Un-Cute Tree
i have no excuses for missing posting this weekend. i was even at my computer. i need to get out of the habit of forgetting.
i was asked to make this one less cute and have a darker mood than my other paintings.
she asked for a peaceful beach with a house on the shores. any request that has a background usually makes me stray from my usual style
this request was from a cmu student that wanted either a scottie dog (cmu's mascot) or a robot (cmu's specialty). i gave her both.

Windowsill
this request was for "young woman on a window sill, her dark hair tousled by the wind. and all that in some dark colors, apart from the light outside the window." i guess i could have still tried to cram that request into my free paintings style but i figured it would be better if i didn't.

Art For a Gamer
for this painting the requester asked for the half life logo and said, "nothing special just make it look badass." haha i hope i accomplished my task.

Bum Eyed Dog
this is for the owner of a lab with a bad left eye. i pictured him being scrappy because of his bum eye so i painted him kind of skinny. after i was finished, the requester told me that's the way he is in real life.

Gargoyle, Stray Cats Logo and Another Set of Robots in Love
once again i was busy dressing up this weekend and not posting my paintings. i went to a "clearance halloween" party where you were supposed to go shopping november 1st to get your costume on sale. quite a clever idea.
robots with emotion.
stray cats are a rockabilly band.
this requester wanted something "gargoylish" and his favorite is this one eating a hamburger.

Fat Chef
this is for a guy in culinary school. (although he may have graduated by the time i got to his request.) he described this scene in detail down to the fact that the burger on his belly had no plate with lettuce, tomato, a pattie and no cheese. he even asked for finely checkered black and white pants. i think it's a darn cute request and i hope he likes it.

Walking to the Sky
this is my homage to walking to the sky. this is the actual walking to the sky:
it's an outdoor sculpture that was recently installed at carnegie mellon university. the artist, Jonathan Borofsky, is a graduate from cmu's art school. this sculpture has been the center of much debate since it was proposed. a huge number of students hate it and didn't want it installed. they think its ugly and intrusive. they also think that it's going to be how our campus is identified from now on because its so prominent and big and...there.
i actually can't think of any student i know that likes it....accept for me! i think its fabulous! for one thing, it got the whole campus actively talking about art. and for another thing, it's HILARIOUS! really?....its called walking to the sky and it's a pole with people walking to the sky?....really??
i'm just hoping it's way deeper than the "inspirational" message i'm getting from it. i mean, it's fine art so it's probably too complex and esoteric to understand anyway. i HOPE. and in the mean time, i'm going to laugh at it. this sculpture even has people to look at it BUILT IN! so this masterpiece never stops being admired. borofsky is brilliant. i'm jealous. i want to make a big old, expensive, stupid thing and get praise for it.
ever since it's arrival, this art has been one big joke on campus. i've waited in line to walk to the sky many times. but i swear the line never moves.
so then people just start cutting! me and "guy in red" hat are never going to get our turn.
getting a photo with the sculpture people is a necessity when visiting cmu and people get very excited to do it like they're the first ones that came up with it. the sculpture people at the bottom have been dressed up a lot too. i'm actually surprised they've not been vandalized more.
also, the black guy's butt is the subject of many conversations on campus. purportedly it's well shaped. and i'd like to point out in the pictures, the paint is wearing off of it. i wonder why.
next year for halloween, my friends and i are talking about dressing as walking to the sky. sounds like we'll be the life of the party as a group of average looking, conservatively dressed, multiracial people carrying a pole!
the best joke about walking to the sky i've heard so far was from a comic in our school's paper. somone drew walking to the sky with a guy in a wheelchair at the bottom of it crying. yeah that's right. THERE'S NO WHEELING TO THE SKY.
so yeah...great art!

Mandolin
most mandolins usually have eight strings and i was feeling bad that i dropped two of the pegs from the head whenever i was designing this painting. i did some research and found out that six-string mandolins do exist, they're just rare. yay! the painting is still accurate. though i have painted a guitar before with only four pegs. i guess it could be a bass guitar.

Angry Monkey
this request was for an aggressive monkey showing his teeth with one fist in the air, one fist holding a spray can and wearing a fidel castro cap.
Polls Open
because it's election day, i figured i'd post pictures of these 3D models i made for work a while ago. now go vote. unless you're unintelligent. then don't.
and i can't help but post this one too

Baby Clothes
a family contacted me to ask if it was ok that they use my images on some iron ons for their daughter. this adorable little number is what they created. its way better than i expected when i read "iron ons"! the sewn on patch is great! i may use that as a technique in the future for my shirts. they said they'll send me more pictures as they make more outfits.
Virginia Tech Hokie, Provedence Friar and a Crest
as i could have predicted, celebrating in costume made me a poor blogger. sorry i missed a couple days.
i dont know what RBD stands for or what this crest represents. the requester just sent a picture of it and asked for a painting in the same colors.
these two paintings are a pair that a guy commissioned for his father's birthday. his dad is a huge fan of VT hokies football and provedence friars basketball.
