Shakespearean Ninja and Heart Hand

i dont know how i forgot to post in the middle of the week. oh well. here's two today.



yeah i traced my hand. it took a lot of self control not to make it a turkey. i left off the black outline on this one to make it more gentle because its supposed to reference giving.



i painted this guy incorrectly. hamlet knew yorick when hamlet was a child so he always looked up when they talked. he should be holding the skull above his head.

Wild Pockets

i now work at a gaming/animation company in pittsburgh. yay! i go every day to a place and do what someone tells me and they give me money in return. its pretty swell. we just released a product called build and smash 3-d messages.



its a facebook application where you can build 3-d worlds and send them to your friends. its a cute time waste. go check it out and add it to your facebook profile!

by the way, i designed the website, logo, interface, some environments and lots of characters for this application. its a small company and i'm one of two artists there so i get to to lots of stuff :)

Rose

this rose looks a lot like a 3-d model i just made at work. oh by the way, i have a job now. i never mentioned that here though i did talk about being unemployed a couple times. well no longer am i a free freelancer. see the post above to hear more about what i do.

Angler

this one is for a german who requested a "Deepseefish". i went with an angler cause they're so darn interesting. with that glowing body part, and all. hopefully that's what he meant by deepseefish. i really like this painting. like....really like. i dont know why. i usually do a good job of not getting attached to my paintings cause i cant keep them. but something about this one just makes me happy. i'm secretly hoping (though it's not very secret now) that he doesn't respond when i email the requester to tell him it's done. maybe i like it because it matches my bedroom which is fish themed. there's also a cool angler created by pixar in finding nemo. they did a good job of making him terrifying and strangely cute at the same time.

Gangster Cupid

i'm posting this sketch because it was inspired by my earlier cupid painting. drawing a child with a weapon made me think about how violent cupid actually is.

Hole, Boots, Match in Brown

different from my usual style but that was by request. i'm not sure why this person wanted a painting of a hole with brown boots and a match but it was fun to do monochrome for a change.

Owl III

the owl is both mine and my mother's sorority's mascot. but we are members of different sororities. i guess college greeks want to be associated with smart things that stay up late. though i've heard that owls aren't actually that smart. i also heard from this requester that they're good luck. the owl was available for comment but merely replied, "who?"

Rocket on the Moon

this is another painting that doesn't have an up or a down. or a sideways for that matter.

Battlestar Viper

i actually thought this was from star wars until after i finished painting it. if you'll believe this, i've never seen star wars. i think i'm the only person on earth (and possibly other planets) that can say that.

Fortune Cookie

i never thought about this but the paper gets baked with the cookie. thanks wikipedia!

Free of Style Cover Art

my most recent cd, Free of Style, was made for user interaction. i designed the cover with the idea that anyone that bought the cd could customize it. i've gotten a couple sent back to me and i've featured them on my music site. i'm really excited about these two and i hope people send more in. so go get my album, color it and let me see!!

Anna Nicole as a Clown

i got a request for anna nicole smith in clown makeup. i'm guessing because of this video: Anna Nicole Wacked Out Of Her Mind In Clown Makeup!. when the request was sent, anna nicole was still alive but by the time i got to the email, she was not. i wrote back to make sure the requester still thought the painting was a good idea. the response was, "i think anna nicole would appreciate it." actually, i wouldnt be comfortable with it even if she was still alive. all this press about britney spears and amy weinhouse etc. makes me really uncomfortable too.

Cupid

happy valentines day! i actually held off on posting this one for a few days so it could arrive at the perfect date. don't people know that its really morbid to reference getting shot in the heart? like really. think about a person getting an arrow to the chest. how does that represent love?

B94 FM

my favorite pop radio station when i was growing up got taken off the air quite a while ago. just recently, the station came back and i'm very thankful. i had to show them my appreciation by sending them a free painting. hope they hang it up in the studio.

Power Hour Video

while i was visiting my friend in ny, she showed me a video she had taken on her phone during my first power hour. its pretty cool because i didnt know anyone had taken more than pictures. this is at track 36 so everyone has gotten a bit loud. the video opens with the "awwwwwwWWWWWW SHOT!" chant that everyone did in between each song. you catch the beginning of the song "one chord for one shot" at the end.

i feel like i haven't done a robot in a while. i named him darkbot because he's got less white in his grey color than i usually use. he looks like he's made out of gunmetal.

my mother saw this painting and it made her want to buy a fur coat. that is not the feeling i expected/intended to evoke at all. my cute painting makes people think of killing the character and wearing its corpse?

Second Pine Tree

sorry i missed painting a couple of days. i was visiting a friend in new york for the weekend. twas a lovely short vacation.



i've painted two pine trees, one oak and a bonsai. i've also done a painting of five books. those are like tree corpses.
