Remote Posting
I'm posting this from the Pittsburgh airport with my iPhone. The fact that I'm using capitalization (the iPhone automatically does) is proof. I'm waiting to get on my delayed flight to NYC to visit friends for the weekend. That means no painting until Monday. Enjoy your two days off from having to look at pop art!

Purple Elephant
darn it. i'm a minute late posting this one. paint is still wet in the picture even.

this is the third elephant with flower request. it's quite different from the first two and not just because i was asked to make him purple. i also decided to make him sitting. then he ended up being darn big and filling up the canvas. who knew sitting elephants make a perfect square shape?

There Is a Society For Bacon. And It's Monarchical.
this is the fifth painting requested that involves bacon. i'm guessing it's because my paintings were called to the attention of bacon lovers via The Royal Bacon Society - The Ultimate Bacon Resource Site

Not 24 or 22
this request was for "a painting with 23 colors on it and a small turtle". i guess i could have tried to give the turtle's shell 23 colors but if i did that i would have made the turtle big enough to fill the canvas. then i would have had to make the argument that "small" is relative and he's small compared to a turtle on a 36x36" canvas. this way i avoided justifying my work. though i guess this turtle is big compared to one on a 1x1" canvas.

Poor Grammar Abe and A Sign That May or May Not Be Lying
i forgot to post on friday. i thought i would forget more often this past few weeks because i was out of the habit for a while there due to my canvas issue.

i don't think signs should be allowed to present subjective material.

yep, that's abraham lincoln telling you to "stay gold". actually, it should be "stay golden" because the adverb is modifying the verb. but who am i to argue with a request?

Rhythm Knows She's a Lovely Lady Despite My Complaining
this one was actually commission. or... a donation the requester and i agreed upon before i started painting heh heh. this pup's name is rhythm. she's a doberman. yes i know. i was shocked too. don't people know all dogs are boys and all cats are girls? especially tough dogs like dobermans! i mean, there's the word "man" right in the name!

Portfolio Update
i just reorganized my art portfolio with new sections and added a bunch of new works. the images are a lot bigger now too. go take a look. actually, it's not something i'd think the reader (possibly readers) of this blog would care about but it took me a lot of time and effort so i wanted to announce to the internet what i had accomplished.
Fishing Tournament Logo Design
i just finished a logo for a fishing tournament. the guy that contracted me liked my fish bones painting and wanted a logo based on that with the addition of another logo (the flag). i believe it's going to end up on some t-shirts. if i get some photos of the final product, i'll post them too.

Patrick Wolf
this guy is a singer songwriter from london. i've never heard of him though he seems to be pretty famous. of course that judgement was based on his number of MySpace fans, quantity of tour dates and quality of his site's web design but i don't really know. wikipedia says "Patrick utilises a wide variety of instruments in his music, most commonly the ukulele, piano and viola. Known for combining electronic sampling with classical instruments, Wolf's styles range from Romantic folk to techno-pop." well that sounds pretty cool. i think i'll give him a listen now. of course a good artist would have listened before creating the portrait to allow his music to influence the painting. good thing i'm not just a good artist. i'm a great one, hah!
