this one is actually three feet by three feet. and it wasn't free. but it's still a square and i got the commission based on smaller free painting i did of a hydrant so i'm posting this with the rest of the free paintings. it went to a deputy chief of a fire department to hang in his office. i thought it was pretty cool he said, "My colleagues all have pictures of fire incidents and car wrecks all over their offices. Frankly, it's pretty depressing." he wanted something more positive.

What's Better Than a Dog Portrait? Two dog portraits!

as i promised, same dog doing the same thing on a new color! though they're not EXACTLY the same. this one actually looks older....maybe because i painted it second so the reference photo had time to age.

i got a request for something pittsburgh. i painted the pirates logo for the requester and he didn't like it! apparently the pirates are so bad, you can't even give them away. so i painted the smithfield street bridge and he was much happier.

this character's name is domo. domo is a pretty cool word according to the "facts" i found on the internet:
"Domo" is a very convenient word (expression), and frequently used by native Japanese speakers. Thanks to the ambiguity of this word, (basically it is an adverb meaning "very") this word can be used on various occasions.

Such as....
When someone gives you a present, you can say "Domo", instead of saying "Thank you".
When you step on someone's foot on the train, you can say,"Domo" instead of saying, "I'm sorry."
When someone died, you can say to the bereaved family, "Domo" in a low voice, instead of saying, "My deepest condolenses."
When you visit someone, you can say "Domo", instead of saying, "Long time no see! How are you doing?"

a guy that goes by the name "pimpformation architect" asked me to paint his logo. he found out after choosing that name that there's a porn movie with the same title. that's like filling out Cialis on your kid's birth certificate and then seeing a commercial.
