Taweret

taweret is the original god of evil from egyptian mythology. she is made up of all the things the Egyptians feared, hippopotamus with the arms and legs of a lioness and the back of a crocodile.

Port a John

this is a part of the series that got hung in a gallery show. for a lot of them i tried to paint stuff that no one would ever request. one of my friends that came to see the show predicted that this would be the last one on the wall. she was incorrect. it got taken when about half of them were gone. if i were going to request a painting from me i'd ask for this. it was tough to part with it.

Heart

this is kind of similar to a t-shirt i designed with mechanical heart on it. minus the mechanical part.

Revolver

i made a shirt that says i gun art. i guess i art guns too.

Play Doh

i LOOOOOVE the smell of play doh. and eating it from under my nails...just kidding...maybe.

Toaster

a device into which you put bread and it magically gets replaced with toast.

Owen and Mzee

owen is a baby hippo. mzee is a 100 year old tortoise. they exist in real life. and they're friends. owen was rescued after being swept into the indian ocean by tsunami waves. he was separated from his mother so he started following around mzee in the animal facility. now they do everything together including swimming, eating and sleeping. they're best fwends.

Crazy Cat

i actually CHOSE to do this pet portrait. the requester gave me other options to paint that were more open and not a pop art tribute to an aphonic best friend based on a photo. but i wanted to paint this cat because of it's insane expression and pose. look at his eyes in the photograph. he looks like his mind is running like crazy and he's about to crack. though i did make him more pleasant looking in the painting.

this is one of a two part commission that the requester is going to give to a couple getting married. they have two cats and two dogs. the dogs will be up tomorrow.

A Second Italy

this is my second painting of italy. a while ago i painted africa and said i was probably going to end up painting everything on the planet. i shouldn't be repeating countries if i'm ever going to get that done.

Evil Muppet

this monster is based on a muppet seen in this sketch from the Ed Sullivan show in 1969. the sketch took me off guard because i expect more kid friendly material from muppets. the monster could be pretty upsetting to kids and the little girl character ends up being violent. i like it when the monster says "snarf wrach carundridge" and makes it rain. apparently monsters have magical powers.

Wave

i was asked to paint a wave based on the drawing below. this is the first time a requester has drawn what they want their painting to look like. i was glad to get the picture to base it on because she clearly had something very specific in mind and i wanted to get it right (as always).

Bass Clarinet

the result of an interracial marriage between a saxophone and a clarinet.

Irish Terrier

car bombs are delicious. sorry, that's the first thing i think about when i hear irish. this guy was donated to the Irish Terrier Club of Chicago for their yearly art auction to raise money for irish car bombs...i mean, terriers.

Cupcakebot

i traded this painting for some gourmet cupcakes. they were amazing! chocolate raspberry filled with nutella or mango preserves, topped with chocolate ganache!



the girl who made them for me is a cupcake (and also robot) aficionado. she even is a part of a website called CupcakeFetish and she posted about our trade. She is the CEO at a company that makes robots so a cupcakebot is very appropriate.

A Tree

i painted a tree with birds in it, a pine tree, an oak, a bonsai tree, another pine tree, and now a generic tree.

amazing packaging. its so much fun to shove your finger through the foil and drink out of a little barrel. i invented a mixed drink with one of these. the recipe is: add 2oz of vodka to one blue hug. shake. its called a windex.

these guys get punished because they light up. no kids are running around collecting regular flies in jars.
